What happens if the user does not apply enough blood on the test strip?
The user will receive an E-4 error code.
If the test strips vial remains open, will this affect the stability?
Yes, as with any test strip, heat, humidity and other environmental conditions can affect strips.
Can I add a second drop of blood to the test strip after the test has started?
No, there is no ability to squeeze extra blood from the finger to dose a strip a second time.
The Accu-Chek Instant test strip is smaller than my current test strip, will I be able to use it?
The Accu-Chek Instant system was designed to assist users to easily conduct a test. Several features were designed for this purpose:
Easy-edge test strip has a wide application area compared to leading brands
Strips are placed electrode end down in the vial, so that they can be inserted easily into the meter with minimal handling
The used strip can easily and hygienically be removed from the meter with the strip ejector
How much blood does a test strip require?
The Accu-Chek Instant test strip requires only a small speck of blood (0.6 μL).
Has anything changed with the test strips?
The Accu-Chek Instant test strip utilises the FAD-GDH chemistry.
Does the meter lock the user out if the test strips have expired?
No, the meter will not lock a user out if they have used expired test strips.
Can I touch the test strips?
Yes, a clear protective barrier runs along the entire length of the test strip to protect the strip and chemistry. Blood applied anywhere along the yellow edge of the strip can be quickly pulled into the test strip.
Will my Accu-Chek Aviva, Accu-Chek Performa or Accu-Chek Guide test strips work with the Accu-Chek Instant?
No, there is no compatibility between the Accu-Chek Instant meter and these other Accu-Chek test strips.
What is the purpose of the Accu-Chek Instant meters strip ejector?
The strip ejector allows a user to dispose of a used test strip hygienically.
Is it possible to test with different blood sample types?
Yes, it is possible to test with all types of blood including capillary, venous, arterial, and neonatal. Please refer to the user manual and speak to your healthcare professional for more information.
Does a battery change cause the meter to lose memory or the date and time?
No. Memory is retained. Time and date will need to be reset if batteries are out for longer than 40 seconds.
Does the meter consume the battery when it searches for a paired device?
Yes, any time the meter is on, the battery is being consumed whether searching for a paired device or uploading results.
Why does the Accu-Chek Instant meter need two batteries?
The Accu-Chek Instant meter requires two batteries to power the features of the meter, such as the backlit display and Bluetooth connectivity.
How long do the meters save the date and time after the batteries have died?
The meters will retain the date and time settings for up 40 seconds when the batteries are removed.
What types of averages are available?
Test results may be seen in 7, 14, 30 and 90-day averages.
How much data can be stored on the meter and can the readings be reviewed directly on the meter?
720 readings can be viewed and stored in the meter.
Can the target ranges be changed?
Yes, the target ranges in the meter can be changed using the device settings on the mySugr app.
Why does blue represent “high” on the target range indicator, when blue means “low” on other meters?
Being too low is life threatening for people with diabetes. Therefore, red has been chosen to be the colour indicating “danger.”
Is the Accu-Chek Instant meter approved for use in hospital settings?
Yes. In addition to accuracy with capillary blood, the Accu-Chek Instant may be used with venous, arterial and neonate blood.
How long does it take to get a result from the Accu-Chek Instant?
The Accu-Chek Instant meters has a fast test time of less than four seconds.
Is the USB port of the meter water or dust-resistant?
No, the USB port for any of the Accu-Chek meters is not water or dust resistant.
Can the user delete stored results?
With the Accu-Chek Instant meter, it is not necessary to delete stored results. Once 720 blood glucose results are in the memory; adding a new result causes the oldest one to be deleted. Additional editing solutions for results are available with the mySugr app.
What are the default target ranges?
In range: 3.9-8.9 mmol/L, below range: 0.6-3.8 mmol/L, above range: 9.0–33.3 mmol/L.
How accurate is the meter reading against a lab reading?

Can the Accu-Chek Instant meter be used for diagnosis of diabetes?
No. As seen with almost all products designed for self-monitoring, the Accu-Chek Instant meter cannot be used for diagnosis of diabetes.
Can the Accu-Chek Instant meter be used for Alternative Site Testing?
The Accu-Chek Instant meters can be used for Alternative Site Testing (AST) on the palm, forearm and upper arm. Please refer to the user manual and speak to your healthcare professional for more information.
When and why is it helpful to test with a control solution?
Performing a control test lets the user know when the meter and test strips are working properly. More information on control tests is available in the user manual.
Once the meter is paired, will data transfer automatically to the mySugr app or does the app have to be opened on the smartphone every time synchronisation is needed?
When the meter is paired with the mySugr app, each blood glucose result will be transferred automatically, once the app is opened. However, the meter and smartphone must be within 3 meters to transfer successfully. If the app is not open, the value will not be transferred automatically. However, with the next successful import, all blood glucose values will be imported. There is not any loss of data.
What will happen if I change my smartphone?Can I retrieve my data when I reinstall the mySugr app in the new smartphone?
When you create your mySugr account, your data is stored with that account in a secure and compliant manner. If you change mobile devices or have to re-install the mySugr app, pair your meter to the app. Data synchronisation with the app happens automatically as soon as the app has connection to the internet, users don’t have to do manual backups.
Can more than one meter be paired to the mySugr app?
iOS users can pair a maximum of three blood glucose meters. Android devices allow a maximum of one meter to pair.
Can the Accu-Chek Instant meter synchronise with more than one mobile device, such as a smartphone and a tablet? Will this cause duplicate results?
The Accu-Chek Instant meter can only pair and synchronise data with one Bluetooth enabled device at a time. Once the meter has been paired, pairing with a new device will overwrite the original pairing.
Is my data secure using Bluetooth?
The Accu-Chek Instant meter implements BLE Pass Key Pairing security
Can I view my transferred meter data in the mySugr app when the meter is not connected?
Yes. Blood glucose results and diabetes data transferred from the meter to the app are stored in the mySugr app. You can view this data when the meter is off and not actively connected via Bluetooth.
How close do the Accu-Chek Instant meter and mobile device have to be for data to transfer wirelessly from the blood glucose meter to the mySugr app?
The Accu-Chek Instant meter and mobile device must be within 3 meters for the automatic data transfer to occur. If the distance between the devices exceeds 3 meters during blood glucose test(s), any new meter data will synchronise with the app when the devices are within range and Bluetooth is turned on.
How does data transfer work with the new meter?
The meters can transfer results using Bluetooth Low Energy to compatible smartphone apps like mySugr. Additionally, the micro-USB can be used with compatible diabetes management solutions such as the Accu-Chek Smart Pix device and the Accu-Chek Smart Pix software.
After the data is transferred to the mySugr app, is this data still stored in the meter?
Yes, at least 720 results will remain in the meter’s memory at all times, despite the transfer of data to an app or online portal.
Does the Accu-Chek Instant meter require coding?
No, the Accu-Chek Instant meter does not require manual coding.
