- Where to find the expiry date of my test strips?
The expiry date is printed next to the (

If test strips and container is stored and handled correctly, the test strips from a container which has already been opened are good up to printed expiry date.

We do not recommend that you use expired test strips and container are stored and handled correctly.
For your safety, the Accu-Chek® Performa and Accu-Chek® Performa Nano systems are designed to prevent biased results caused by expired test strips. During the last month before the code key expires, the meter continues to provide a result, along with the warning 'code exp' at the bottom of the display.
After the code key expires, the meter displays an 'E-5' error and 'code exp' will flash.
For Accu-Chek® Active meter system, once the test strips have expired. "exp" will appear inside the test strip symbol.

- When do I need to change the code chip?
You will need to change the code key every time you change a bottle of test strips. Ensure that the 3-digit code number printed on the code key matches the one printed on the bottle label.

How do I get into set-up mode? (eg. to set date & time)
- Can I use the code keys from other Accu-Chek® meters in the Accu-Chek® Performa meter?
No. Although you can insert a code key from another meter into the Accu-Chek® Performa meter, you will get an ‘E-2’ error, and ‘code’ will flash.

Yes. Simply go into setup mode and turn the beeper off.

Yes, you can use either Accu-Chek® Performa or Accu-Chek® Performa Nano blood glucose meter with the Accu-Chek® Performa test strips.
The NEW Accu-Chek® Performa test strips with advanced chemistry is marked with the green square which indicated that these test strips are not subject to clinically relevant maltose interference.

Yes. The Accu-Chek® Performa system checks for more potential issues than any previous Accu-Chek® system. The Accu-Chek® Performa runs extensive quality checks during each test.
Sample checks
Verify the correct amount of blood is applied
Show user if more sample is needed
Permit re-dosing within 5 seconds
Detect whether sample is blood or control solution
Strip checks
Check the test strip and its reagent for potential damage / abuse
Exposure to high humidity
Scratches on strip electrodes
System is designed to compensate for humidity or temperature or to produce an error message
if unable to compensate
System checks
Check for variations in:
- Hematocrit
- Humidity
- Temperature
These checks start when the meter is turned on and are completed when a blood glucose result is shown. An error message will be displayed if any of these checks fail.
Close Answer - When should I change the battery of my meter? Which battery should I buy?
When Battery symbol (
) appears in the display, the battery is almost empty. You can perform few more tests with battery. We recommend that you replace the battery as soon as possible. Meter becomes blank if battery is not replaced. Accu-Chek® Active meter uses 3V CR2032 lithium battery. Your test results saved in the memory does not get deleted when you change battery.Close Answer
- Does the meter provide information if the test strip has expired?
Yes, the meter will show "code exp" inside the strip icon (
) if the test strip has expired and the date and time are set. Nevertheless, a measurement will still be possible although we do not recommend using this result for therapeutic decisions. Close Answer
- How many test results can be stored?
The new Accu-Chek® Active meter can store up to 350 test results. Close Answer
- What type of measurements can be flagged?
When the result is shown you can use 4 different flags by pressing the S button.
The flags will appear in the following order:
- before the meal (pre-prandial)
- after the meal (post-prandial)
- general flag
- control solution

- Can Accu-Chek® Multiclix be used for alternative site testing?
Yes, it can be used for alternative site testing (AST) by using the specially designed AST cap. We recommend using Accu-Chek® Multiclix at the palm of the hand when performing AST.

Accu-Chek® Multiclix is intended to be used by only one person. To avoid exposure to contaminants, do not share the device or needles with other people.

), am I still able to change the lancet?
No, Accu-Chek® Multiclix is designed such that you cannot twist to change the lancets if the device is primed
. If you still apply force, you will damage to internal parts of the lancing device.

No, for safety and hygienic reasons this is not possible.
Close Answer - Can I reuse a lancet drum?
No. We have incorporated elements into the lancet drum to prevent accidental use of a used drum. A used drum is easy recognized by the red stripes.
This is for your safety.
Close Answer - Can I use a lancet more than once?
We highly recommend the use of a new, sterile lancet every time you test. This is to help avoid infection. In addition, the tip of a new needle is sharp, with optimal form and cut and therefore ensures gentle lancing. This is diminished with multiple use of the same lancet.
However, a lancet may be used more than once.
Alert: Never use a lancet that has been used by someone else.
Close Answer - How do I safely dispose a used lancet drum?
The drum can be disposed of in the household waste. Since all lancets are concealed safely in the drum, you no longer have to reapply any safety caps.

Please proceed in the following manner:
1. Check whether the lancet display is visible
. If not, turn the priming button ( ) until the lancet display becomes visible.
2. Check whether the yellow area in the transparent release button is visible. ( ) If this is the case, the device is already primed and ready for use.

Keep your lancet drums clean and protect them from extremes of temperature. Do not store them in a hot car or in the refrigerator. Always store the lancing device unprimed.

Accu-Chek® 360° Diabetes Management system (DMS) allows you to manage all your health information in one application.
You must install the software on your PC. Data can be downloaded from your Accu-Chek® blood glucose meter (except Accu-Chek® Advantage) and insulin pump.
