Coding the meter

Make sure the meter is off.
Gently slide the code chip into the slot on the side of the meter.
Leave the code chip in the meter until you open a new box of test strips.
Performing a test

1. Insert the test strip.

2. Verify that the code number displayed on the screen matches the code number on test strip container.

3. A test strip and flashing blood drop symbol appear on the meter display. The meter is now ready to perform a blood glucose test.

4 . Prick the side of your fingertip with your lancing device. How to use? Click here.

5. Touch the drop of blood to the front edge of the yellow window of the test strip—do not apply to top of the strip or window. A flashing hour-glass symbol indicates enough blood has been applied.

6. Your result appears after 5 seconds. Remove and discard the used test strips. Your meter will auto-off.
In addition to fingertip testing, the Accu-Chek® Performa system can be used for testing on alternate sites, including the palm, forearm, upper arm, thigh or calf. Alternate site testing (AST) requires the use of a special lancet cap. Consult your healthcare professional to see if alternate site testing is suitable for you.
